Antarctica

Making your Polar Penguin Dreams Come True

It is like nowhere you have ever been before. Cathedral-sized icebergs line the horizon, parading out to sea. Mountains seem to leap from the ocean to bump their heads on a cobalt-blue sky. Again and again amid this splendor, you sight an incredible array of bird and marine life. Come join us on an exploration of this pure, remote frontier, arguably the earth's "best show!"

Intrigue and Exploration

Antarctica has intrigued scientists and beckoned explorers for generations. So special and unique is the Great White Continent that in 1959 the Antarctic Treaty was drafted to preserve the region for peaceful and scientific purposes only.

Although discovered in 1820, only early in this century did the rest of the world learn about the awesome beauty, extraordinary wildlife, and powerful natural forces of the Seventh Continent from such intrepid adventurers as Amundsen, Scott, and Shackleton who penetrated its frozen vastness. Their grueling, sometimes tragic expeditions to explore the final continent and to stand at its pole, were tests of human endurance. Now, just decades later, a traveler can follow if not in their footsteps, at least in their wake.

Abundant Wildlife

Our Adventures take place during the austral summer when temperatures rise into the 50°s and the Antarctic Peninsula harbors the greatest concentration of seabirds. Thousands upon thousands of penguins: Gentoo, Chinstrap, Adélie and Macaroni Penguins along the Antarctic Peninsula; Rockhopper, Magellanic and King Penguins on the Falklands and South Georgia. Antarctica's other inhabitants range from crabeater, fur, Weddell and leopard seals to minke, fin, humpback, sie and killer whales. Your days are filled with unparalleled opportunities to observe this abundant and fascinating wildlife.

Discover with INCA

Accompanied by expert naturalists, you'll land from Zodiacs onto untrod rocky shores to wander through chattering masses of gregarious penguins. And you'll visit with the scientists conducting climatic and oceanographic experiments at research stations along the Antarctic Peninsula.

The program is gaining recognition for its unique, ‘flexible’ approach. Using the ship as a multipurpose platform from which we base our activities, we aim to remove the ‘group feeling’ from this type of group travel. We offer a range of activities at each and every stop so that a wide variety of client interests is satisfied. Guests will regularly hear the question, “What would you like to do?” They can be as adventurous as they wish and participate to their own level of interest and ability. Our staff-to-client ratio far exceeds the industry norm, which means there are always plenty of staff on hand; we can offer a greater variety of activities and our program runs more safely and efficiently. Whether it’s hiking, walking, photography, ornithology, whale watching or cruising, our staff ensure everyone is taken care of.

We also have a great on-board educational program that is delivered in a friendly way by a team of expert naturalists, historians and adventurers in our dedicated presentation theatre.
