17-day adventure

Patagonia—The Wild South INCA adventure includes seven days of hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, hot-tubing, fine dining and luxuriating at Exlpora Salto Chico in Torres del Paine National Park, Patagonia.

Our active exploration of Patagonia begins in the heart of Argentina, Buenos Aires. After attempting the tango and strolling the famed shopping and cafe districts, we head to central Patagonia to don crampons for a mini-trek across Perito Moreno Glacier.

Now we head to Explora Patagonia, where we may celebrate Christmas in remote yet not at all sparse style. We follow by ringing in the new year on board the Via Australis while cruising the fjords of Tierra del Fuego.

Itinerary Summary

Dec 16

Depart from US for Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Arrive on the morning of Dec 17.

Dec 17-19

Buenos Aires! Historic neighborhoods, dynamic urban centers, vibrant cafes and night life, great dining and, of course, tango!

Dec 20

Morning flight to Calafate on Lago Argentino in central Patagonia.

Dec 21

Mini-trek across Perito Moreno glacier. Afternoon hike on the shores of Lago Argentino.

Dec 22

Cross the Patagonian pampas to Explora Lodge in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. Afternoon hike.

Dec 23-27

At Explora. Hike, bike, horseback ride, or not! Staying at explora is the best way to experience this remote and inspiring park.

Dec 28

Travel from Explora to home via Punta Arenas. Embark the Via Australis or Mare Australis.

Dec 29-Jan 1

On board Via Australis or Mare Australis, cruising fjords and channels, visiting glaciers, penguins, elephant seals and other wonders.

Jan 1-2

Disembark Via Australis and travel home via Buenos Aires. Arrive home on Jan 2, 2011.

Notes

Land cost includes hotels (double occupancy), land and yacht transportation, yacht berth (double cabin), most transfers, tips for hotel services, restaurants, baggage handling and storage, all guides, tours, fees to museums and archeological sites, and sightseeing arrangements as specified.

Not included are any airfare, airport taxes, tips for yacht crews, guides or naturalists (at your discretion), laundry, alcoholic beverages, excess baggage charges, or other items of a personal nature.
