Welcome to the Andes
Explore Colonial Quito, the first city to earn a UNESCO World Heritage designation. Quito's Old Town boasts well-preserved colonial architecture and seven major churches within walking distance, offering a glimpse into its rich history. The modern subway system ensures the city remains accessible and connected. Visit one of the world's leading regions of long-stem rose production, where flowers flourish in the fertile volcanic soil. Experience the charm of Otavalo and its surrounding communities through vibrant markets and the enduring local culture.
Welcome to the Amazon Jungle
With your home base on the riverboat ANAKONDA, explore a complex ecosystem where dense vegetation harbors an astonishing number of species. Start with a night walk in the forest to spot nocturnal wildlife. Canoe along side rivers to look for pink river dolphins, howler monkeys, sloths, hoatzins, toucans, and a wide variety of fauna and flora. Walk forest trails to see giant trees that may host unique ecosystems. Enjoy a swim in the Napo River or, for the adventurous, spend a night glamping under the forest canopy. Watch expansive sunsets and spend the evenings under the stars in the cooler river breezes while aboard ANAKONDA.

Your Itinerary
Day 1 (Sunday) | Arrive Quito
Upon arrival at Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Hotel Plaza Grande in Quito’s Old Town. Optional upgrade to Casa Gangotena at an additional cost. See upgrades section below.
If you would like to explore Quito further, consider arriving a day or two early. This UNESCO World Heritage City is worth exploring.
Day 2 (Monday) | Quito
Tour Quito, walking Old Town's cobbled streets with our expert guide and visiting several well-preserved and active Catholic churches. After lunch, visit the Center of the World—the Equatorial Line Monument and Interpretation Center.
Day 3 (Tuesday) | Otavalo
Venture into the verdant countryside north of Quito, exploring small villages en route to the cultural center of Otavalo. Each village is known for a particular craft, such as musical instruments, weaving, and clay ornaments. In Otavalo, locals welcome you to peruse the town market and barter for handicrafts. On the return, stop at a rose farm to see the world’s largest long-stem rose-growing region, a major backbone of the local economy.
Day 4 (Wednesday) | To the Amazon
After a 30-minute flight from Quito to the Amazon city of Coca, you will transfer to a motorized canoe for a 90-minute journey down the river. During the ride, you will take in the first sights and sounds of the Amazon. Soon, you will reach ANAKONDA and receive a welcome aboard. After dinner, plunge into the Amazon rain forest for an (optional) nighttime forest walk to observe the rich nocturnal activity and experience the thrill of the vivid noises and aromas from so much biodiversity.
Day 5 (Thursday) | The Amazon
After breakfast, board a motorized canoe to explore one of the river’s large islands, where eagles, oropendolas, woodpeckers, and many other birds may be seen. Later in the afternoon, visit Yasuní National Park, a pristine and relatively undisturbed Ecuadorian Amazon region home to the legendary pink river dolphin. You can also find anacondas, river turtles, various primate species, and the colorful hoatzin, a unique bird known locally as the "stinky turkey." Near Yasuní, visit the Secoyas, a minority community where you can share in their traditions and lifestyle.
Day 6 (Friday) | The Amazon
Start the day with a visit to an authentic Kichwa family on the banks of the Napo River, where you can learn directly from local community members. After the visit, continue navigating upstream. During the cruise, participate in a cooking lesson with the expert chef, who will share recipes and techniques using fresh, organic ingredients to prepare exquisite traditional Ecuadorian dishes that you can replicate at home. After lunch, try your hand at making traditional handicrafts and attend an ancestral cultures lecture with one of the local guides. For more active guests, kayaking is an excellent choice to explore the surrounding nature. For the more adventurous, ANAKONDA offers a glamping program as an alternative way to explore this enchanting destination.
Day 7 (Saturday) | The Amazon
In the morning, visit an observation tower high in the rainforest canopy, offering astonishing 360-degree vistas. The view from the top is truly glorious, towering above the lush treetops and showcasing the sheer vastness of the Amazon Basin—a perfect photo opportunity! Birdwatchers and bird lovers will especially enjoy this outing. In the afternoon, explore the nearby forest on a walk to discover a myriad of animal and plant species unique to the Amazon Basin. A kayaking activity is also available to explore this area.
Day 8 (Sunday) | Return to Quito
Your jungle adventure comes to a close, and you return upriver to Coca for your flight back to Quito. Upon arrival, a representative will meet you and escort you to the Wyndham Quito Airport Hotel for a brief overnight stay before heading out to the Galápagos.
Day 9 (Monday) | Quito to San Cristóbal
Transfer to the airport for your 2-hour flight to San Cristóbal, Galápagos. Arrive mid-day and have lunch, then visit the tortoise reserve on San Cristóbal Island for a special opportunity to view the islands’ most famous reptile: the giant tortoise. Next, visit the Interpretation Center to discover the islands' geological, natural, and human history. After a brief time to explore the town, board INTEGRITY for orientation, dinner, and set sail. You will live aboard the yacht and spend as much time exploring the islands as park rules permit. Each night, you’ll travel to the next destination.
Day 10 (Tuesday) | Santa Fé and South Plazas
In the morning, visit Santa Fé Island. After landing on a white beach usually covered with sea lions, walk into a giant Opuntia cactus grove where you can see the endemic land iguanas. After the shore visit, snorkel or kayak in the bay. In the afternoon, visit South Plazas Island. Here, see another species of Galapagos land, iguana, as well as cactus finches. On small islands like this, terrestrial and marine species interact more than on the larger islands, and you may spot the occasional hybrid iguana (land and marine) with its “zebra-like” stripes. The south-facing cliffs swarm with a myriad of bird species, and bachelor sea lions climb steep cliffs in the late afternoon to spend nights away from the larger dominant bulls.
Day 11 (Wednesday) | Genovesa
Darwin Beach, formed by the rim of a sunken crater on the north side of Darwin Bay, features red mangroves along the hiking trail that provide habitat for Yellow Warblers, Yellow-crowned Night Herons, and Pintail Ducks. The highlight of this site is the incredible abundance of Red-footed Boobies, Great Frigatebirds, Swallow-tailed Gulls, and Yellow-crowned Night Herons. Although the Red-footed Booby is the most abundant booby in the islands, this is one of the few places where visitors can observe them. Enjoy a snorkel and/or kayak before lunch.
While riding in a panga/Zodiac along the base of the eastern cliffs of Darwin Bay, scour the cliff crevices for various animal life, including Red-billed Tropicbirds and Galapagos fur seals. We'll come to a rockfall that forms a natural staircase up the cliffs, known as Prince Phillip’s Steps or the “Stairway to Seabird Heaven.” You’ll walk through massive colonies of Red-footed and Nazca Boobies and an extraordinary Palo Santo forest on the way to a lava ridge, where thousands of Wedge-rumped Storm Petrels dart about while Short-eared Owls stalk them for prey.
Day 12 (Thursday) | Santiago and Bartolomé
In the morning, walk across a recent lava flow and observe its beautiful structural characteristics. Formed in the second half of the 19th century, the flow is too young to support much plant or animal life. The lava itself—the contrasting black pahoehoe flow and the reddish-yellow tuft cones—is the highlight of this visit. The colors and shapes of the lava are fantastic for photos.
Arguably the most recognized landmark in the Galapagos, Pinnacle Rock juts straight out of Bartolomé’s northern bay. Snorkeling in the bay offers visitors a chance to swim with Galapagos Penguins. Climbing the 600-meter trail to the top of the island provides spectacular views of Pinnacle Rock, Santiago Island, and Daphne Major and Minor.
Day 13 (Friday) | Rábida and Sombrero Chino
On Rábida, land at Red Beach, where wading birds and ghost crabs dot the sand. Behind the beach is a saltwater lagoon, frequently visited by pintail ducks, common stilts, and a group of bachelor sea lions. Brown pelicans nest in the nearby salt brush. A short trail inland offers a chance to observe finches, Galapagos doves, yellow warblers, mockingbirds, and the occasional snake.
The turquoise waters near Sombrero Chino provide one of the best opportunities to see Galapagos penguins. A panga ride in search of wildlife is followed by snorkeling, often including sharks, sea lions, penguins, and rays. We will land at a beautiful white sand beach for a short walk along a trail that meanders over varying types of lava.
Day 14 (Saturday) | Disembark, fly to the mainland
From anchorage in Baltra harbor, say "adios" to INTEGRITY and her dedicated crew, and return to the Baltra airport for your flight back to the Ecuadorian mainland. Overnight at Wyndham Quito Airport.
Day 15 (Sunday) | Fly Home
Depart for home!

Is this trip right for me?
You must be reasonably fit and agile. You must be able to get in and out of small watercraft, walk on varied terrain, and climb stairs unaided. In the Amazon, you will walk on muddy and sometimes slippery, narrow trails. You will be in open canoes in small tributaries and may be sitting in the rain. The Galapagos terrain ranges from simple beach combing to walking over boulders and rough lava. Snorkeling requires swimming ability.
