Designed by INCA’s Vice President and co-founder, Marika Roberson, in collaboration with esteemed women associates in Ecuador, this unique program showcases the remarkable contributions of women to Ecuador’s history and culture and offers a superlative women-guided Galapagos exploration.

Uncover the legacy of Ecuador’s most influential women—past and present—on an immersive 11-day adventure. Delve into the stories of trailblazing historical figures, connect with today’s visionary artisans and entrepreneurs, and embark on a woman-guided exploration of the Galapagos Islands. Experience the magic of this legendary archipelago through the lens of female leadership, conservation, and creativity, all while indulging in the luxury and service of a world-class expedition.

This extraordinary adventure celebrates Ecuadorian women who have shaped history, preserved traditions, and built thriving businesses.

THE ADVENTURE

We begin in Quito, delving into the lives of historical figures and contemporary entrepreneurs. Then, we journey to the Andean highlands to explore Otavalo and its surrounding communities, where women continue to uphold traditional crafts and inspire future generations.

Next, we set sail for a week in the Galapagos Islands, cruising aboard the luxurious yacht INTEGRITY under the guidance of expert naturalist and Galapagos cacao farmer Pati Stucki. With her deep knowledge and passion, Pati brings the islands to life in a way few can.

For those who wish to extend the experience, an optional three-day retreat at a hacienda near Cotopaxi offers scenic walks, horseback encounters, cooking classes, a spa, and hikes on the volcano itself.

YOUR ITINERARY

Explore Ecuador through the lens of dynamic women — as shapers of history, as keepers of tradition, and as exciting trailblazers of a better future.

Begin in Quito, exploring the history of this UNESCO World Heritage city and its evolving culinary scene led by women. In Otavalo, immerse yourself in tradition and art with hands-on workshops from master artisans. Then, spend a week in the Galápagos Islands, where expert naturalist Pati Stucki guides you through its breathtaking wildlife and landscapes.

DAY 1 | Arrive in Ecuador

WEDNESDAY | Most flights will arrive in Quito late in the evening. You will be met and transferred to Hotel Patio Andaluz in Quito’s Old Town.

Nestled in a narrow valley between towering volcanoes, Quito is a city of breathtaking beauty and deep historical roots. In the 13th century, it was the heart of the Kingdom of Quitus, later becoming the northern capital of the Inca Empire. During Spanish rule, grand monasteries, temples, and mansions transformed the city into an architectural masterpiece, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. Today, Quito thrives as a hub of artistic expression, with galleries and boutiques showcasing contemporary works alongside traditional crafts.

DAY 2 | Historic Women in Quito & Culinary Delights

THURSDAY | Our journey begins in Quito’s Centro Histórico, where we admire the city's striking topography from Alameda Park and visit the Basilica, a neo-Gothic landmark. Strolling along García Moreno Street, the "Street of the Seven Crosses," we uncover layers of history dating back to pre-Columbian times.

At Museo María Augusta Urrutia, a colonial mansion-turned-museum, we explore the life of a philanthropist who shaped Ecuador’s social landscape. Next, we meet artisans crafting toquilla straw hats—an Ecuadorian tradition often mistaken as “Panama hats.”

We then visit Casa de Manuela Sáenz, home to Ecuador’s legendary heroine. A revolutionary, spy, and Bolívar’s ally, Sáenz played a key role in South America’s independence, earning titles like “Liberator of the Liberator.” Her courage continues to inspire women worldwide.

A gourmet lunch at Somos showcases Ecuadorian flavors with a modern twist. Finally, we savor Paccari Chocolate, learning from co-founder Carla Barbotó, whose sustainable practices empower over 3,000 cacao farmers.

DAY 3 | Otavalo & Artisans

FRIDAY | We journey north to Imbabura Province, pausing at Lake San Pablo and the towering Imbabura Volcano before reaching Otavalo, home to South America’s most famous textile market. At Plaza de los Ponchos, women artisans showcase vibrant tapestries, intricate beadwork, and handwoven textiles.

At Huarmi Maqui, a women-led cooperative, Matilde and Paola Lema share their passion for Kichwa weaving and medicinal plants. Next, we explore Taita Gundo, where musician Ali Lema crafts traditional Andean instruments, connecting music to Indigenous identity.

After a colonial hacienda lunch, we visit Arte Nayia Gallery to create our own dream catchers, reflecting deep cultural ties between Indigenous communities of the Americas. At Totora Wasi, we try our hand at crafting totora reed handicrafts before heading back to Quito.

Final Night in Quito

We cap off our journey in the Patio Andaluz “cave” with a cocktail-making workshop, mastering Ecuadorian recipes and toasting to an unforgettable experience.

DAY 4 | To Baltra & Santa Cruz

SATURDAY | You’ll be transferred back to the airport for your flight to Baltra, Galápagos. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to the VIP arrivals lounge, where staff will collect your passport and facilitate your entrance formalities with the Galápagos National Park.

You then transfer from the airport across the Itabaca channel to the Island of Santa Cruz to search among the lush grasses for grazing giant tortoises.

Time permitting, explore a lava tunnel. Continuing to the town of Puerto Ayora, you’ll have lunch, visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, and stop to check the fit of your wetsuit before boarding INTEGRITY to begin your cruise.

DAYS 5-10 | Exploring the Galapagos Islands with Pati Stucki

As Darwin did nearly two hundred years ago, experience the diverse environments that make up the Galapagos Archipelago. You will see a place as unique and well-studied as any on earth. With an expert Galapagos naturalist guide, absorb the Islands' fascinating impact on our understanding of how the world works.

Unlike Darwin, you will be enjoying three fine courses and spacious quarters on your Galapagos Islands cruise. As the sun sets, happy hour begins, and the evening is spent enjoying the company of seasoned and fresh friends. With each new dawn, you have new sites to explore and new animals to encounter.

Your Galapagos trip will be filled with fascinating flora and fauna that only exist on these very islands. Experience clear oceans to all horizons, delicious food, expert leadership, sea kayaks at your disposal, and most everyone’s favorite: snorkeling with sea lions, penguins, tropical fish, turtles, and rays.

Using INTEGRITY as your home, you'll cruise the islands spending as much time ashore as the Park rules permit. With Pati Stucki, our licensed, INCA-selected naturalist guide, you'll learn about the Galapagos Islands' birds and animals, geology, marine life, and marine systems.
One of the highlights and an integral part of any visit to the Galapagos is the opportunity to swim and snorkel with the marine life—tropical fish, sea lions, turtles, and sometimes penguins!  On most days, you'll snorkel at least once; on some days, you'll snorkel twice. While back on board, you’ll enjoy delicious meals, complimentary WiFi, and weekly laundry service.

DAY 11 | Disembark — Return to Guayaquil (or Quito)

SATURDAY | Say "adios" to INTEGRITY and her dedicated crew from anchorage in the Baltra harbor. Return to the Baltra airport for your flight back to the Ecuadorian mainland, where a dayroom will be waiting for you to relax before your late-night international departure.
