INCA and INTEGRITY remain committed to guest safety and security during the worldwide novel coronavirus outbreak.
As of Thursday, March 12th, there remain only 17 cases of coronavirus in Ecuador, all of which are located on the mainland. This number remains unchanged since March 10th. The government of Ecuador as well as the regional government of Galapagos have instituted protocals to prevent the spread of coronavirus beyond its current containment.
ECUADOR PREVENTION PROTOCOLS
Ecuador currently has 17 confirmed cases of people diagnosed with coronavirus. No coronavirus-related deaths have been reported.
Following the World Health Organization’s announcement that the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak now represents a pandemic, the Ecuadorian government declared a sanitary emergency on March 11th. The Ministry of Public Health announced that, from March 13th, all passengers, regardless of nationality, who have traveled from or through the following countries will be subject to 14 days isolation: China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, France and Spain.
The Ecuadorian government will continue its protocols for flight arrivals at the country’s two international airports, including requesting all passengers fill in a short health and travel questionnaire (in English and Spanish), as well as screening passengers for symptoms associated with the virus.
The government confirmed it has prepared 22 isolation units in Ecuador’s main cities (Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca, among others), and has Pan-American Health Organization equipment for testing for the virus at its disposition.
GALAPAGOS PREVENTION PROTOCOLS
The Resolution published by the Galapagos Government Council on March 4th, requires all travelers (whether Galapagos residents, Ecuadorians or foreign nationals) to be screened by Ministry of Public Health medical staff for symptoms before traveling to the Galapagos Islands, in both Quito and Guayaquil airports.
Any traveler who medical officers believe presents a risk to the safety of others is not allowed to board planes to the Galapagos.
